Drovers Reunion 2016 event wrap-up

A vanishing breed of Australian bushmen and women gathered at the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame on the 30th April and 1st May for the 26th Drovers Reunion. The annual event is a chance for the remaining few old timers to catch up and reminisce over the good ol droving days, to honour the Drovers of days gone by and participate in the hotly contested Outback Games.

‘Boss Drover’ and organiser of the reunion, 84-year-old Hank Cosgrove, says their get-together included a few Outback Games, but nothing too strenuous.
“We’ll see how well they can still crack a whip, make a damper and boil a billy; and chucking a boot at the drover’s dog — a pretend one of course — is a favourite.”
The weekend is full of hilarious games, good old fashion story telling, and iconic Australian history.

For the first time in the events 26 year history, a female has won the ‘Champion Ringer’ title. Congratulations to Mrs Noelene Lindsay from Dalby. A full list of results from the Outback Games can be seen below.
